Cherokee 0.9.2 Ubuntu Hardy

Hello :

After Alvaro's friday talk about cheroke I've decided to give it a try
and I started to like it.
I was looking for the 0.9.2 package for ubuntu and found none
I've already made the debs for 0.9.2 for Ubuntu Hardy based on
Debian unstable 0.8.1
Later this day I will push to my ppa.lauchpad.net

I'll let you know the apt sources if you want to give it a try in Ubuntu ..

Great piece of software Thank You all ..

Good! :-)

Leonel, it's good to find you here as well.

Lately, the Cherokee guys have been a bit too fast for me to track
them, on top of so many other things. Are you interested in
co-maintaning Cherokee for Debian with me? As of today, Ubuntu carries
the Cherokee packages based on mine (well, they carry basically
everything derived from Debian ;-) ); their latest sync was for
0.7.2-4 (which is what we targetted for Lenny). I have the packages
for 0.9.x basically ready (in fact, I'll try to upload 0.9.3 today
before leaving). And duplicating work... sucks.

BTW, we do have some bugs open in the Debian BTS, which I'd love to
address, but I don't have enough time for some and skills for
some. Most of them are related to packaging work - I have to thank the
Cherokee guys for being so prompt to answer to most of the bugs I've
pushed up (of course, paying some attention to poor ol' 0.5.x would
not hurt ;-) But I know it's a different ideology). So, please (you or
anybody else here), take a look at our current list:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?ordering=normal;archive=0;src=cherokee;dist=unstable;repeatmerged=0

Or more specifically, at the ones I know need some love:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=478685
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=500266

Thanks,

I just got bitted for that circular dependency ...
the ubuntu 0.9.3 debs I made from your 0.8.x debian unstable packages ..
Did you fix in the 0.9.x the circular dependency bug ?

I've just checked it.. and it seems that we'd need to change some code
upstream.

For instance, at first look, it seems that libcherokee-config ought
not to call the cherokee_icons_get_icon() function. If we could get
rid of that call it'd be possible to break the circular dependency.

I will try to commit a path in trunk for this within the following days.
